Hi,
I'm Dessil Basmadjian, Creative Director of Focus Home Interactive, an independent video game publisher based in Paris. I started as a VFX artist and editor around 2004 and my love for story telling gradually led me to live action directing. Through the years I've been working for a wide array of industries, including fashion (Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès), music videos (Tyler the Creator, Christine and the Queens, T-pain, Keziah Jones) and advertising.
In 2015, I was offered a fantastic opportunity to get closer to the video game industry by directing the cinematics of a Warhammer 40k game, Battlefleet Gothic. The wonderful team spirit and the passion at work in the gaming world encouraged me to push further in that direction, and I had the privilege of becoming Film and Cinematic Director at Focus Home Interactive. Directing all the trailers and working closely with talented developers on their cinematics has been a welcomed challenge and a precious opportunity to experiment with story-telling.
In 2018 I became Creative Director of the company, a thrilling position to help creators from all around the world fulfil their artistic dreams. Focus's will to combine AAA know-how with independent creative freedom promises wonderful opportunities in the upcoming years, and it's an honor to participate, ever so slightly, in creating tomorrow's gaming world.
